The Scholar-Athlete Program annually recognizes two high school seniors – one boy and one girl – from each member high school whose academic and athletic careers have been exemplary, whose personal standards and achievements are a model to others, and who possess high levels of integrity, self-discipline and courage.
Since its inception, the Annual Connecticut High School Scholar-Athlete Awards Program and Banquet has honored over four thousand outstanding graduating seniors in Connecticut high schools. It has become the premier annual event in Connecticut’s education community, looked forward to by the member high schools of Connecticut as the opportunity to recognize student excellence in academics, athletics and school and community leadership. In excess of 1,600 people attend the Banquet each year.
These outstanding members of our school community showcase the passion for academics and competition. In addition to being honored at the annual banquet, each of their jerseys will be retired for the following school year and showcased in our gymnasium main entrance.

ANNA BEMISS
It is important to find the balance between school and sports, because as a student-athlete, you can’t have one without the other. In high school sports, it’s easy to put pressure on yourself, but remember athletics is a combination of hard work, teamwork, and fun.
I will be attending American University in Washington D.C. as an International Relations major.
I would like to thank Coach Gaucher, Coach Barnes, and my other coaches, as well as my teammates and my family for their support, friendship, and all the memorable experiences. I will be sad to say goodbye!
JOSH TYLER
Being a multi-sport athlete from a young age through high school, rather than focusing on just one, allows you to gain several different skills to make you more athletic overall. This will make it easier to pick up any new sport along the way, it will help you to stay well rounded, and will also introduce you to many different kids.
I will be attending Arizona State University, Barrett Honors College, majoring in Actuarial Science. I will be playing ACHA club hockey for the school.
I would like to thank all my coaches through the years, especially Coach Barnes, Coach Genovese, Coach Joslin, and Coach Walpole. I would also like to thank my family, friends, and teammates for all they have done to make the most out of my sports career so far.
